Her reflection in the water shows the truth I never taught her I sent a lamb into the slaughter but it escaped into the woods
And now that we’ve grown older and our hearts have grown much colder Distance makes us so much bolder when we collide
The siren call, the rise and fall With trembling hearts we’re running free but the place I’ve been, I’m torn between the devil and the deep blue sea
The sky a swollen bruise The rest is deja vu…
Living in the land of Nod, Her eyes are black and glowing like the fingernails of God
”We were better off that way…” Only you ”We were needles in the hay…” Falling through ”Now I feel your coldest night…” Like heavy chains ”Howling from a distant height…” So please take the reins
I’ve been stuck in false belief These words got lost within the voice I’ll never speak…
I’m playing my first gig in about a year in Stornoway (my hometown) on Thursday the 28th Of June. I put up a bunch of posters today. Photo by Masakadu Makiyama. Poster designed by Alan Murray. You can listen to my music here:

Ali Murray - August The 14th
I heard your voice follow me home I fell right through your footsteps in the snow and I know why I sing this song while the clouds sail by so slow and I see just what we have become in this place So long to every scene and every face we once knew so well
I feel the wind blowing in I feel it sink its cold teeth right into my skin The angels hoaxed us into sin So I cling to the earth and the end we knew would surely come for us How can we leave when our work has not been done? when the story’s not over…

Just a boring reminder that you can download all my music including my new album at Bandcamp (for free or name your own price) and iTunes, if you’re interested…
From the first time you stepped into my life I couldn’t help but feel that something wasn’t right when I’d wait for you Endless days and nights so long I’d hold on, Mignonne…
Sink into your sweet salvation as lover or as friend You could be the one to guide me to the end and shedding your skin My eyes become so dim I’d suffer on and on, Mignonne…
From this lonely tower, I rest by the windowsill Not a single voice to be heard and many hours to kill and calling your name but it echoes and it’s gone Our time goes on, Mignonne…

Ali Murray - Sober Moon
I’m sorry I was never there I was not old enough to care I have nothing left to lose so I’ll dream of you beneath the sober moon…
In the stillness of a photograph In a hazy memory I remember you way back then silently watching over me
Long ago in a peaceful place Burning out the hours down to the core I think of you and smile and you remain unknowing, forever more
Now time casts a shadow over my body and the machines of age have taken my mind I’ve worn this mask for so long It’s become to hard to remove, I find
The years have been harsh and unforgiving I’ve been blanketed in its cold embrace I’ll blow a kiss to the stars above and leave without a trace
I watch all the events of my life occur but I comprehend nothing I feel the world shed its skin and brim with tears but I learn nothing at all
The moon shines down on the dark and lonely streets Tonight our fears have subsided and our lies remain discreet
It’s so quiet now I can almost hear your thoughts lost in corridors and ocean depths and there are many cracks in the wall where I solemnly slept
These days are comatose and so much has come and gone My throat constricts and my heart swells as time carries on…

Ali Murray - Drowse
The horizon is on fire in the cold twilight You walk through the long grass by the riverside You take me down in fractured time You lead the way You don’t look behind…
Your loving eyes into my heart flows With a weakening whisper ”Life is for you, Let me go…”
This barren landscape We can never go home You fall into darkness and I fall alone My only wish now could never come true Maybe someday somewhere but never with you…
You are like no other I love you so… ”Life is for you, Let me go…”
Ali Murray - Fragile Bones (Feels Like Home)
Here’s one to life I’ll turn a blind eye until the day a big surprise comes my way
These fragile bones are wearing thin This feels like home so let me in…
Out into the cold I am cast I have a feeling this is the last chance I have to hold you before I go without you below… without you below…
These fragile bones are wearing thin This feels like home so let me in…
These fragile bones beneath the skin You feel like home so let me in…
Ali Murray - An Endless Lullaby
Though it shines, it feels so cold Though it grows, it seems so old Though we parted from eachother all these memories are gold Sinking slow with nothing left to hold
So we live and we die to an endless lullaby So we live and we die to an endless lullaby
Remember when we looked up to the sky We never thought to ever question why the clouds came by to swallow the sun up with a sigh If spirits fly - Goodbye my love, Goodbye…
So we live and we die to an endless lullaby So we live and we die to an endless lullaby
We all crumble beneath the waves of time never to rise…
Ali Murray - Judy
Hello Have you been waiting all along? How long must this go on? I’m still waiting for the dawn When there’s no more need to sleep because there are things that run more deep like the longing in our hearts….
So before we plummet to the bottom of it all I’ll cross out these calender days upon the wall And I’ll run run run wherever you go and be taken somewhere they’ll never ever know…
Oh the countless hours I have stared out at the world and wished for air to fill these lungs so unprepared
So before we plummet to the bottom of it all I’ll cross out these calender days upon the wall And I’ll run run run wherever you go and be taken somewhere they’ll never ever know…
And I’ll be fine if we just leave the past behind A crack in time in which you slipped into my mind For that I owe you endlessly I wouldn’t know what to do if you were just imagination, so Judy here’s to you…
Ali Murray - Ephemeral (Ft. Julia Matheson)
No more running out the door Safety I ain’t felt before A surreal moment of happiness Nothing left to second guess
So we’ll throw rocks up at the sky They’ll fall back down and we will die But it’ll be worth it in the end as we ascend…
Into the air Oblivion cries Taken somewhere she never dies Soar to distant heights Leave it all below And disappear from sight where they’ll never ever know…
